Robert Keane, the chief executive of VistaPrint, a company that is doing well by printing business cards. Rather, it is VistaPrint , a printing company that has strung together 28 profitable quarters by selling and giving away business cards. Eventually, all 900 OfficeMax stores in the United States and Mexico will have a station where customers can log on to a Web site that uses VistaPrint's technology and, with the help of an OfficeMax employee, design business cards and other materials that will be printed by VistaPrint and delivered to the OfficeMax store or the customer's home. Ryan Vero, OfficeMax's chief merchandising officer, said that in tests this year, the VistaPrint stations at stores improved customer satisfaction with the process of buying business marketing materials. Last year Eastman Kodak introduced Kodak Creative Network, a site aimed at small businesses that let people place photographs on their business cards and stationery. In November, FedEx Kinko's introduced Print Online, which allows customers to upload a file to the Web, specify how they would like it printed, view a proof of the document and then send it to a FedEx Kinko's location for printing. read more
