Microsoft on Monday continued its foray into the world of online applications with a program that allows Office users to access their documents online and share with others. Users are now invited to pre-register for Office Live Workspace , which allows those with Microsoft Office to access their Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents online. Earlier this year, Google denied that it was specifically targeting the customers of providers like Microsoft with Google Apps, but a spokesman admitted that the Apps unit is moving forward on several pilot projects for larger companies. When Google later rolled out its Google Apps premiere edition designed for businesses of all sizes, Rajen Sheth, product manager for Google Enterprise, insisted that the company considered "Google Apps to be a complement, not a competitor, to traditional desktop applications. Microsoft on Monday, meanwhile, re-branded its Microsoft Office Live hosted small business service as Microsoft Office Live Small Business. read more
