About Thomas Belknap

I did not received TigereContent from Thomas Belknap

Below are the email exchanges between Thomas Belknap and myself.

I invite Thomas to post our email exchanges if he has any that differs from the following.

My main points are:

1. Thomas has not delivered the TigereContent as promised including: installation of trial version, debugging, one month warranty and viral feature.

2. The eWriterpro, Tiger A2E, Tiger Article Rewritter, Tiger Project Manager etc were developed based on TigereContent and in violation of his WSO below:

http://www.drquek.com/download/tigerecontent/marketing.htm

Our Email exchanges:

Date: December 20, 2007.

Hi Daniel,

I am still here but didn't have internet.

I believe the only thing we need to do is setup the trial functionality on your server. Take care of your family obligations and then we will set up a time to finish up this project.

All the best and happy holidays to you and your family Daniel.

Best Regards,

Thomas

No Problem Daniel. I can be patient until someone asks me to work on their project when I am awaiting for answers from them.

I am up to my neck on projects so I want to get some of these projects off my desk. I will upload the code next week. I want to do some more testing because I updated some of the dlls on my computer.

You will need the .net firebird data provider http://www.firebirdsql.org/index.php?op=files&id=netprovider the .net 2.1 version.

This can be done next week on my end.

Sorry Thomas for the misunderstanding as I am not sure what you expect from my side.

I thought I have got done everything you asked me, but it seems there are more.

Please be patient with me as I am rather new to this.

I will use innosetup, so I will download and get it ready for you.

On the other issues, I will like to confirm I have done this:

1. On my own machine I have install the Visual Basic Express and Studio 2005.
2. I have a windows hosting account.
3. Download the firebird lite.
4. Bought the dlguard.
5. etc…

Is there anything else missing?

I will now look try to download innosetup.

Thanks for your understanding!

Daniel, I hope you can figure out what you plan on doing for the installation so I can send you the files. I will not be setting up the innosetup for you. That was not part of the agreement. If you want the clickonce setup then I can do that. Otherwise I will send you the files.
The one error was a database correction and I have not been able to reproduce the other error. Daniel, I am getting pretty tired of waiting for you to make the decisions necessary for this transaction to complete and then ask me what the status is for the project. I cannot complete the project until I know how you will be creating the installations. I did not agree to help you setup up online databases and software activations for the trial versions. I am not a hired programmer.

I want this done. If you cannot decide then I will just upload the completed files and be done with this transaction.

Installshield which is an expensive program. That is the setup that worked for you.

You can use the windows installer. I am not sure if it comes with the express version but it is part of visual studio. This will not download the required programs like the .net framework. Your user will have to download them prior to installing your software. Messy way of doing it if you ask me.

There is also a free setup that a lot of people use call Innosetup. I haven't used it myself but it seems to work well from the programs I have installed.

The installation error was an Installshield setup not a clickonce setup.
The time out error (your first installation attempt was clickonce) you received may have something to do with your computer security. Basically it doesn't allow the connection to the server to download the software components. There really is no answer to that problem. I have spent hours on Microsoft's site and google with no luck besides what I told you. I know I have had few customers with the same problem and try to give them an alternative setup like I did for you. The alternative setup would not allow updating like Clickonce does.

Here was my previous reply.

Hi Daniel,

It doesn't matter which domain. Probably the windows domain. I will set it up using the tigerecontent/clickonce folder.

You can install it on either. I would suggest the doctorequek.com. You can use dl guard for all your products.

I haven't been able to reproduce the file missing error. That is what is holding me up. The other error is a database change. The field was too small so I enlarged it. I also haven't been able to find out why the clickonce timeout occurs. That is the problem you had. It may be a firewall issue on the customer's machine. That is the only information I can gather. Do you want me to continue trying to reproduce that file missing error?

a. my generic domain running linux:

b. my domain running windows:

Please let me know which one you choose.

Q2. I just bought dlguard for $97 (Thanks for your info).

Hi Daniel,

Yes that is the one. You can actually use dl guard for all your products.
Just set it up on a generic domain. I set mine up on getyourorder.com which is generic for all my products. It is a good investment.

One error is easily fixed by increasing the size of the database field. I will keep trying to replicate the error with the open file. I am having a hard time replicating it. Once we get these errors done, I will need a url to where you will store the setup files for the clickonce installation.

Hi Daniel,

1. I am going through those errors. One error said file not found. I am having a hard time duplicating it. Did you have it open or delete before you saved it in the software?

2. Regarding your questions:
DL Guard is something you would buy. You can do it with php scripts or asp.net. It depends on how you want to set this up. It is totally up to you as to how you want to set it up. It needs to talk to paypal and retrieve the payment information from paypal. I had it setup through the 7 dollar script (php) that I gave you. You may be able to use the paypal code in the 7 dollar script for your purposes.

1.Sql server database.

2. When a person orders the software from me, I need to set an account online for them to activate the software. You have two modes in the software. Trial mode and activated mode. This allows people to try it out before buying. When they activate, the software checks a online database for their account and activates the software.

Now, I have all this automated. When they order, the software is delivered and the online account is setup. This keeps me from having to set it up by hand. I had it automated through the $7 dollar script and my other software was automated using dl guard. This can be a simple php script you use in conjunction with Paypal.

Does that make sense?

Hi Daniel,

My pleasure. We will get your website all setup with the software activation. Go ahead and create a database on your webhost so I can create the tables for the software activation. I have this all automated through dl guard. The person purchases through dl guard and dl guard sends the information to a webservice created in asp.net. It is all automated. I also added that functionality to the $7 dollar script. You will have to figure out how you want to automate the account setup(trial versions). You definitely don't want to create each account by hand. I did that when I first started and what a pain in the butt it was. Lol

Sorry Daniel, I didn't see this email.

1. I will include a window that will link to one webpage. You may want to make this a generic webpage that you can redirect giving you the ability to change your advertisement easily.

2. This can be done using Clickonce technology. This was how the original installation was set up. Remember you had a problem with it. I occasionally get people who get timeout errors like you did. I honestly have not been able to figure out why this is occurring. The only thing I can figure out is the connection to the server will timeout after awhile.
Most people don't have a problem with it.

By using Clickonce, you can update the software and simply upload the changes. The software will then download those changes.

You will also need to figure out how you want to do the trial versions.
Currently, I have it set to check a database on my website. This is how they activate it once they purchase. They try it out and it expires. They purchase which creates an account on my website. They activate with the email they used to purchase.

You will need to decide how you want to handle that.

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

I hope you don't mind if I ask you this question:

Is the software modification you are doing going to allow for:

1. Displaying of advertisement which is link to a HTML page on my website?
This allows for display of new ad each time the user open up the software.
2. Are you providing some sort of update feature for the software?

Regards,

Daniel

As far as I know Namecheap allows for free and quick transfer between Namecheap accounts.

Why not we try it this way (forget about Godday and the EPP thing)

Here is my namecheap account:

OK. I didn't see the transfer request with Namecheap so I will wait to see if it shows up. I did get the godaddy email asking me to log in to my account to finish the transfer.

I will let you know if it shows up in my transfer list on Namecheap.

As instructed I have initiated the transfer process at Godaddy.

I have paid 1 year renewal for the domain http://tigerecontent.com.

The transfer process is ongoing.

I am sure they know your domain is not with godaddy, or else there is no need to transfer.

I am not very sure too. I think later they will ask for the code you gave me.

Attached the screen capture. As shown, your email address is displayed on the screen.

Daniel, the tigerecontent.com domain was registered with Namecheap.com. The email that I received for godaddy is asking me to sign into my account. The domain isn't registered there so how am I suppose to transfer it? Are you sure that you started the transfer correctly? I was told you needed the EPP code that I sent you.

Thanks Daniel,

I will start working on those fixes and hopefully have everything done this week. Do you have a godaddy account I can transfer the domain too? I will also upload the website and camtasia videos with the ftp credentials you gave me.

Regards,

Thomas
