Default ERROR: 1048 - Column 'mess' cannot be null at lib/dbfunc.pm line 151

Hi Dr. Quek,

When I make a html message and go to save it, I get the following error:

ERROR: 1048 - Column 'mess' cannot be null at lib/dbfunc.pm line 151

Some simple HTML messages can be saved but for some reason I am experiencing the above error when trying to setup a HTML message.

I have searched through the forum but can only find a reference to the problem experience by others but cannot find a solution.

I would appreciate your assistance in resolving this problem.

Thank you.

I look forward to your reply.

Default Sql - error: 1048

Hi Dr. Quek,

Thank you for your reply.

I logged into my phpMyAdmin on my server and the settings are, what I believe to be, correct.

I have a screen shot of my phpMyAdmin screen at the link below:

http://mkwebsitesales.com/my-ar/phpMyAdmin-pic1.jpg

Can you confirm that the settings as displayed are correct?

I have tried to make some changes to the HTML message in the hope that I can locate a problem and that the message will save. However the problem still exists. I am getting the following error:

SQL error:
INSERT INTO swd_mess (`days` , `defmesstype` , `encoding` , `fk_account` , `fromemailmess` , `fromnamemess` , `mess` , `messhtml` , `messrss` , `priority` , `repeating` , `rsslink` , `saveinhistory` , `senddat` , `subject` , `type` , `typesend` , `usefrom`) VALUES ('28' , '1' , 'iso-8859-1' , '2' , NULL , NULL , NULL , '<body>\r\n<center style=\"height: 1972px;\">This is a test message <br />\r\nfor html auto responder messages<br />\r\n</center>\r\n</body>\r\n\r\n\r\n' , NULL , NULL , '0' , NULL , NULL , NULL , 'Marlboro News - Kids Birthday Party 1' , 'html' , 'auto' , '0')
: ERROR: 1048 - Column 'mess' cannot be null at lib/dbfunc.pm line 151.

Again I would appreciate your assistance in finding a solution to this problem.

If you can suggest a solution here in this forum that I can implement that would be welcomed.

Alternatively, we can arrange a Skype call at a convenient time so we can step through the problem.

I look forward to your reply.

Regards,

Martin Kiely

As conveyed to you in our Skype call, this is not due to problem with the Autoresponder as you have no problem saving text messages. I will take a look at your html message to see why it will not work.

[14:50:52] Martin Kiely: Hi Dr. Quek - I still have the problem.

Can you place a html test page in the sample account at:

http://mkwebsitesales.com/cgi-bin/ar/

Username given via Skype.
Password given via Skype.

Also I have read in your support forum posts by other FMLP users who have experienced the same error. The threads can be read at the following link:

http://mkwebsitesales.com/cgi-bin/ar...gRe5Ok4YBK6Tha

The post by 'Leadman' reads:

"Had to change Null values because of errors
I had to change a few tables to allow NULLS because I was getting errors and FMLP wasn't saving messages I spent alot of time to create.

Now, the software seems to be working well - without errors.

I haven't come across any negative effects from doing this. Like I said, I only changed a couple tables where the errors were being generated. Now I no longer have errors or problems. It may be specific to my host server."

The problem was solved by Leadman but he doesn't show how or what tables he changed to allow NULLS.

I welcome your thoughts.
